The 2017 Hour for Life in Pueblo

Our sister organization in Pueblo, Pro-Life of Southern Colorado (PLSC), sponsored their annual Hour for Life on the 44th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision (Jan 22, 2017) at the Rawlings Library.

Diane Hochevar, the president of PLSC, opened up with a description of a project to help educate people on the defunding of Planned Parenthood.

She also informed the approximately 90 attendees of House Bill 17-1099, a bill sponsored by the featured speaker, Rep. Tim Leonard of HD25. This bill concerns the termination of state funding for higher education institutions that engage in the trafficking of aborted human body parts, a practice made known to the public through undercover videos from the Center for Medical Progress.

Rep. Leonard encouraged the group to remain persistent in the struggle for life. He encouraged prayer. He also mentioned a statistic which he obtained from Abby Johnson (a former abortion facility administrator) that the no show (those who skip their appointments) rate at abortion facilities when life witnesses are present in front of the facility can be as high as 75%. He encouraged us to maintain a presence before these facilities.

Bishop Stephen Berg of the Catholic Diocese of Pueblo stated the fundamental principle of the Diocese is that of life. He promised that the Diocese would be working harder to connect with pro-life agencies.

The Hour for Life was a fantastic reminder of the importance of life and of the need to defend it.
